Is anything edible these days.

With milk from China being all over the news these days, it has led me to wonder if anything is really edible. Philosophers would argue that anything is edible, it just depends on whether you want to eat it. So I shall now define the term edible as meaning "something you can eat safely".

But even that definition would come under attack easily. A common sweet that Chang always eats known as Fisherman's Friend is known to cause diarrhoea in large doses. It is certainly edible, but not "edible", because it is not safe to eat beyond a certain amount. It works much like melamine milk from China. The main difference is, for the sweet, you get to clear your system. For the milk, you'll be crying to have your system cleared.

Going down that argument, even stuff like french fries would come under attack, because everyone knows that eating them is unhealthy. It is certainly quite edible, but it is still particularly unsafe because it causes obesity over the long term. But, for some foods, it is better to have eaten, than to have eaten but not eaten. I would die eating ice cream, although I know its unhealthy, because I'd rather die than not eat ice cream. For me, that would constitute dying before one has really died.

Now, how does one die before one has died? By not living as one lives.

Are you confused yet? Good. Have a white rabbit sweet.
