I just watched Lady Gaga's latest music video "Telephone" and I was amazed at what goes on MVs these days. I'm no music purist, because that's the fastest way to become a music idiot. The moment you start pigeonholing yourself into genres you deny yourself to a world of music that could change your life.
I believe everyone has their own guilty music pleasures. These are the songs that you would not be caught dead endorsing, and yet when nobody is looking they are the songs you blast to yourself on your mp3 player, or sing when you think no one else is around until somebody suddenly taps you from behind and goes "excuse me" because she needs to get past you in a narrow alley you were previously obstructing because you were doing your own version of "Sorry Sorry".
However, I find it quite impossible to like Lady Gaga's music, especially now as it descends into depravity. Poker Face was okay, Bad Romance tolerable, but Telephone is just off. The song was average but what the hell is with the video.
Somewhere in it, there was a part that went "It's your lucky day, someone bailed you out." Well, I would like to put her back in for several crimes against humanity.
The first would be for turning guys off worldwide despite all the gratuitous skin she showed, because she simply looks like a street hooker who someone took off the streets and put on music videos. And that's being mean to street hookers.
To be fair there are probably guys who would enjoy this, but I have to say for them to like something that looks like this, they are probably the kind that would also bang cross-eyed 22 year olds on the streets.
Such people are made for each other. Totally "pah jiao".
The second crime against humanity here would be for making Beyonce look retarded. There are enough ugly people around, like a certain *cough* Gaga, please don't take gorgeous people and make them ugly. There's a famine of beautiful people as it is.
I can get the whole concept of the video, in that she's trying to be different, artistic, and whatever, but after awhile all that flash and style over a lack of substance just grates. I won't deny she's genius, because it takes genius to be so weird nobody can understand you. However, on certain occasions she steps a little too close to absolutely swinging loopy.
I struggled to get through the video, it was that bad. And the funny thing is, after the entire thing, I forgot what the song sounded like, because for a music video, somehow the music wasn't the point of it all.
