This is not journalism, this is bullshit
I find it incredible that RazorTV tried to pass this off as journalism or some bastardised form of it. I am not surprised that the fatal stabbing of a teen at Downtown East is news, however, the only newsworthy part of it is the stabbing. His subsequent funeral is NOT news.
I find it really disgusting and warped that the editor of RazorTV, apparently a useless scumbag with a half-assed sense of news values and lacking in human decency, decided to send his video crew to take videos of a funeral procession, demonstrating an utter lack of sensitivity to a family that has just endured a really tragic loss. On top of that, he even tried to paint it off as "the friends of the murdered teen getting aggressive".
He should be thankful that his crew was not seriously assaulted, because in other countries, I can so totally imagine that happening. At least in Singapore, people are still civilised. These people have just endured a loss of a close friend, a loss that can be described as nothing less than traumatic, and nobody in that frame of mind will be rational.
This is NOT journalism. This is nothing but disgusting. And it does nothing for the already abysmal credibility of RazorTV. You may be the media, but it does not give you the right to demonstrate the social skills of a prehistoric ape. You are a journalist because you want to help humanity, not degrade its moral fibre.
I don't mean to get all preachy and idealistic here, but this is just an affront to everything that journalism stands for. If there is a reason why people hate reporters, this is it.
