This is probably the most interesting thing that has happened in NTU in years. Just by this one action, NTU will always be known for having the most rigorous FYP programme, so much that one student couldn't take it and decided to go out in a blaze of glory. The only people who will be really pissed by this incident are the cleaners, because bloodstains are a bitch to clean, especially if they are in the most inaccessible places, like on roofs and walls. I've interned in the emergency department of a hospital for 2 months before so I know.It makes me wonder what feud this student had with his professor, so much that in his last moments, all he could think about was giving him some tender loving care. If it sounds wrong, yes it is on too many levels. Brokeback babehhh. Well, he literally caused a break in his back no?
The professor must be thanking his lucky stars that he teaches Triple E and not Medicine, otherwise his student wouldn't have just stabbed him in the back, which is seriously almost a flesh wound.
There is a reason why people always use their backs as cover when something is about to fall on them. A "backstab" is almost never fatal by itself, unless the stab wound is so deep it punctures a vital organ. It probably just hurts like shit, and makes you want to kill the person who backstabbed you, unless the person conveniently killed himself. Most people usually hang around after backstabbing though.
The fastest way to kill with a knife is to sever the carotid artery, the artery that supplies oxygenated blood to the head and neck. On top of killing the person for sure in under a minute, you get a nice arterial spray too. That is really why we take electives, to broaden your knowledge, although it's something that's more applicable in theory than in real life.
This student probably only knew how to take machines apart, and figured that it was as easy to kill a person as it was to kill a machine. Machines spoil really easily. You know, that thing you call a laptop? Load Windows Vista on it and you've more or less killed it. Maybe he saved his whole FYP on his laptop and it died or something, because it ran on Windows Vista. When he wanted to save it, he realised that he would have to go to 8 Flags for servicing, and he lost all hope.
Oh well. At least the Nanyang Chronicle is having a field day now. You can't get anything more newsworthy than this. And I bet Dr Su Guaning is probably be wishing right now that this had happened in NUS instead, as much as it gives NTU free publicity, because he only knows how to smile in press interviews and this is hardly something you can smile about.
But on a serious note, this incident is quite freaky, because you have to realise that this guy was carrying a knife around, and he could have stabbed anyone. He may not be the most clever assassin around, because he obviously doesn't watch Grey's Anatomy or CSI, but for a few minutes on Monday morning, he was prepared to kill. It gets freakier though, because you bet this incident has just given other potential crazies ideas. And the next time it happens, you bet the next crazy is going to top this. And that could be very soon.
Watch your back. The only thing worse than a crazy is a copycat crazy.
