Of all places, it turns out Singapore's most wanted man was just across the island in JB. It really makes you wonder why it took so long for the authorities to catch him. JB is hardly the biggest city, and thousands of Singaporeans pass through it everyday. Anyone could have tipped him off, me included.
It just makes me feel like shit knowing a million bucks was walking around and the two times I was in JB while he was there I didn't capitalise on it. He could have been the guy flipping my prata, the random dude cleaning the toilet, or one of those people on the street selling keropok for 1 ringgit.
But anyway, he had the whole of Malaysia to disappear to. He had more than a year, he could have fled to Indonesia or some other random corner of the world where he'd never be found. And he chose to stay in JB. I just can't find the words to describe how stupid that is. Some people don't deserve to be free. While I'm not saying I condone his escape, making it so easy for the authorities to catch him only makes me wonder why he tried so hard to escape in the first place.
Anyway, on a side note, the networth of JB just dropped by 99%.
